Welcome to May’s Bristol Good Food 2030 Job Update.

As a reminder, good food jobs are about…

  • promoting and encouraging people to cook from scratch, grow their own and eat more fresh, seasonal, local, organically grown food.
  • championing the use of local, independent food shops and traders to help keep Bristol’s high street vibrant and diverse.
  • promoting and encouraging the use of good-quality land in and around Bristol for food production.
  • promoting and encouraging the redistribution, recycling and composting of food waste.
  • advancing education about the part that food, nutrition and lifestyle can play in meeting the needs of disadvantaged individuals, families and groups in the community, and encouraging social inclusion and social cohesion.

If you are an employer, you may be interested in the charity 1625 Independent People’s Transitions to Employment project, supporting young people who have experienced or been at risk of homelessness, and/or leaving care into paid work opportunities. The project provides free training supporting young people in the workplace. The next date they are running this training is Thursday 8 May, 9.30am – 1pm. Contact alex.walshe@1625ip.co.uk for more info.

Also, Bristol Food Network has signed up to host young people through the Not Impossible charity. They make hosting easy for busy employees. Find out more about Not Impossible whether you are an employer, educator or young person looking for work, and watch this short video.
